Day 1 Sydney
Welcome to Sydney, the jewel in the crown of the South Pacific. On arrival
you will be transferred to your hotel for the next 4 nights. Rest of the
day at leisure.
Day 2 Sydney
This morning, gain an insight into the famous city of Sydney and capture
the beauty of this harbour city from selected vantage points. Enjoy morning
tea at Manly and walk along The Corso. Enjoy a relaxing harbour luncheon
cruise and see the best of Sydney in just one day. On board, see the magnificent
homes of Australias wealthy as you cruise the foreshore of exclusive
waterfront suburbs, and see the bustling harbour activity. Enjoy Sydney
Harbour, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Your tour concludes at Kings
Cross Wharf or Circular Quay.
Day 3 Sydney
Travel west beyond the suburban sprawl of Sydney into the rugged beauty
of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park. Journey along
the scenic Bells Line of Road and enjoy a stop at Govetts Leap and
Cahill Lookout for fabulous views. See magnificent steep valleys, canyons
and the Three Sisters on the Skyway, Scenic Railway or Sceniscender (own
expense). Listen to ancient Aboriginal Dreamtime legends before traveling
via the townships of Leura and Katoomba. Enjoy a walk among the native
bush and visit an Australian wildlife park with an opportunity to touch
a cuddly koala and feed kangaroos. See wombats, dingoes and other unique
Australian animals in this natural setting.
Day 4 Sydney
Day at leisure. Ask about the various touring options available.
Day 5 Alice Springs
Fly to Alice Springs. Spend the afternoon touring the sights of The
Alice including the historic Telegraph Station and the Royal Flying
Doctor Service. Visit the School of the Air where sometimes you are able
to listen to the children take lessons on air. Stop at the Alice Springs
Reptile Centre where you will see unique Central Australian reptiles such
as the Perentie and Thorny Devil. Conclude with a panoramic view of Alice
Springs and the surrounding ranges from the top of Anzac Hill.
Day 6 Alice Springs
Day at leisure. Ask about the various touring options available.
Day 7 Ayers Rock
Travel South from Alice Springs through the MacDonnell and James Ranges.
Visit a camel farm where there is time to take a short optional camel
ride (own expense) if you wish. Later stop at Mt Ebenezer Roadhouse where
there is the opportunity to purchase morning tea and locally made Aboriginal
art (all at own expense). Pause to view majestic Atila (Mt Conner) before
arriving at Ayers Rock Resort.
Day 8 Ayers Rock
This morning, begin with a drive around the base of Uluru. Your AAT Kings
Driver/Guide will take you on a walking tour of Mutitjulu Waterhole where
you can view Aboriginal rock paintings. There is time to visit the Uluru
- Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where you can learn about the culture and
Tjukurpa (Aboriginal law) of the Anangu people.
This afternoon, travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata
Tjuta. On the way, stop at a lookout for panoramic views of its
eastern side. Continue on before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge.
Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock
formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural
creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. In the late afternoon
travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness and photograph the striking
colour changes of Uluru at sunset whilst enjoying nibbles and a glass
of wine.
Day 9 Cairns
Fly to Cairns, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda and the Daintree
Rainforest. Rest of day at leisure.
Day 10 Cairns
Board the luxury Quicksilver catamaran and cruise the World Heritage-listed
Great Barrier Reef for a day. Cruise north to beautiful Port Douglas then
head out to magnificent Agincourt Reef, enjoying a buffet lunch on board.
Swim and snorkel with the tropical marine life, board the semi-sub for
an adventure through coral gardens or see the fish feeding from the underwater
observatory. On return, cruise back to Port Douglas, then its a
short drive to Cairns.
Day 11 Cairns
Travel by Scenic Railway through the rainforest to the Kuranda Station.
You will be given free time to explore the Village in the Rainforest
and browse through the shops and market offering local handicrafts. Experience
Skyrail and glide over the rainforest canopy before arriving at the Tjapukai
Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you will have the opportunity to experience
the culture and history of this ancient people. A lavish buffet lunch
will be provided before you are returned to your accommodation in the
late afternoon.
Day 12 Cairns
Day at leisure. Ask about the various touring options available.
Day 13 Depart Cairns
Today you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport, bringing
a conclusion to your Boomerang Trip.
